Wider weather episode
On April 25th, southeast Louisiana experienced a typical airmass convective setup, but the presence of dry air aloft and steeper mid-level lapse rates increased the potential for damaging winds and severe hail. The strongest storms developed during the afternoon and impacted Livingston and Tangipahoa Parishes, producing pockets of thunderstorm wind damage and reports of severe hail. As the storms moved southeast, they crossed Lake Pontchartrain while still generating gusty winds before gradually weakening.
