Event narrative

Thunderstorm winds downed multiple branches and a few large trees on Spainhour Road.

Wider weather episode

A warm front moved northward through the day, coinciding with the passage of an upper jet streak, with the right entrance region moving over the area. This provided enough lift to trigger scattered convection during the afternoon, as daytime heating increased instability, MUCAPE reaching about 500 J/kg. Bulk shear was sufficient for some storm organization, around 30 knots, but some more cloud cover limited storm coverage, and only a few developed in the North Carolina foothills.
