Wider weather episode

Chances for showers and thunderstorms increased throughout the morning and afternoon across eastern Kentucky on May 2nd as a result of strong daytime heating. Isolated to scattered storms formed ahead of an encroaching cold front, which arrived to Lawrence County by the middle of the afternoon. Storms that passed overhead were strong and tall enough to produce damaging wind gusts that knocked down a few trees and inflict quarter size hail. Activity quickly dashed eastward ahead of the cold front, bringing the risk of severe weather to an end by the evening of the 2nd.
