Strong thunderstorms passed through the area on the afternoon of May 8th in response to a cold front dropping down from the north. While the bulk of strong winds with storms stayed east of Kentucky, there was one instance of quarter size hail observed by a member of the public in Lawrence County. Storms continued to travel southeastward out of the area through the evening as the front pivoted overhead.
