Wider weather episode
Quite a few residents of southeast Ohio found themselves without power on the afternoon and evening of May 16th as a result of strong thunderstorms in the area. Hot and muggy conditions ahead of a cold front that was slated to pass overhead later that night inflicted thunderstorm development across the area, with strong enough winds capable of downing trees and power lines. Storms dashed eastward into West Virginia late in the evening as the cold front advanced through the Ohio Valley, bringing a conclusion to the severe weather threat across southeast Ohio.
