Wider weather episode
On the evening of May 20th, a few lingering showers and thunderstorms that first thrived in West Virginia drifted down into southwest Virginia ahead of a cold front. This resulted in local power outages to ensue due to downed trees and power lines from strong wind gusts. Storms quickly pushed eastward and no longer posed a threat to Buchanan and Dickenson Counties after sunset.
