Wider weather episode

A mesoscale convective vortex moved across the Lower Mississippi Valley in the early morning hours. A second area of convection developed over Central Arkansas and approached the Mid-South during the late morning and early afternoon. Surface-based instability flourished across the region along with supportive shear and steep lapse rates. As a result, thunderstorms produced damaging winds and large hail across eastern Arkansas.
