Event narrative

Wind gust was recorded on a personal weather station as thunderstorms moved through the western Albemarle Sound. Wind gust came in via WeatherFlow.

Wider weather episode

A surface trough stalled along the Coastal Plain during the afternoon and evening of May 25th. Along this surface trough scattered showers and thunderstorms developed across portions of southeastern Virginia and along the Coastal Plain of North Carolina. This activity gradually tracked south-southwestward during the evening. A few isolated thunderstorms became strong in nature bringing strong and damaging wind gusts to portions of the western Albemarle Sound.
