Over north central and northwestern Cherry County, severe (D2) drought conditions improved to moderate (D1) drought by the end of May. The cooperative observer at Kilgore 1NE reported 4.98 inches of precipitation for the month.

Drought conditions remained largely unchanged across western and north central Nebraska in May. There was some limited improvements over northern Nebraska, with some deterioration in drought conditions over southwestern Nebraska.
