The buoy station NWCL1 New Canal Station measured a peak gust of 43 mph or 37 kts.
Wider weather episode
A warm front lifted northward out of the Gulf across south Louisiana on May 28th. Lift provided by this boundary and accompanied low level moisture combined with strong daytime heating was able to a few severe thunderstorms. Those storms produced multiple severe wind gusts over local marine locations.
