An upper-level low was positioned over west Kentucky, while high pressure dominated at the surface. Numerous showers and thunderstorms moved north across much of west Kentucky through the evening of the 12th. Afterward, dense fog developed where skies were able to clear in the pre-dawn hours of the 13th.
