Event narrative
Water was reported over IL Route 1 between St. Francisville and Mt. Carmel, beginning at 22:59 LST on June 30th. Other side streets were also inundated by water. This flooding lingered into the early morning hours of July 1st, dissipating by 01:45 LST.
Wider weather episode
A slow-moving cold front interacted with a very moist, unstable airmass during the afternoon and evening of June 30th, 2025, resulting in a cluster of thunderstorms that produced heavy rainfall along and south of I-70 late that evening. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3.5 inches occurred, which resulted in a few instances of flooding beginning on June 30th and lingering into the early morning hours of July 1st.
