The wider storm

A moderately unstable atmosphere existed across the eastern Carolinas. Although winds aloft were light and surface dewpoint depressions were small, cell mergers and subsequent cold pool development helped produce a northward moving squall line yielding multiple reports of wind damage across eastern South Carolina.
