An NWS employee reported a large quantity of hail in the vicinity of Currituck Drive in Virginia Beach, with the largest stones up to 1 inch in diameter.
Wider weather episode
A secondary cold front and upper level trough brought scattered severe thunderstorms to southeast Virginia in the late afternoon and evening. These storms mainly produced large hail, with a few reports of golf ball size hail and larger.
