Event narrative

The Cedar City Municipal Airport ASOS (KCDC) in addition to other mesonet sites including BRIMSTONE RESERVOIR, I-15 at MP 57 Cedar City, I-15 at MP 54 Hamiltons Fort, and Black Rock measured a period of strong wind gusts in the 58 to 67 mph range. The I-15 at MP 54 Hamiltons Fort mesonet recorded the peak gust of 67 mph at 2:30 pm MST.

Wider weather episode

A deep trough continuing to advance through the Great Basin resulted in strong gusts across much of the area, with High Wind Warning criteria being reached the southwest Utah zone, and locally/briefly elsewhere.
