Video relayed via social media showed quarter sized hail on Interstate 16 near the Sinkhole Road overpass.
Wider weather episode
Scattered to numerous thunderstorms developed across southeast Georgia in the early afternoon hours near a subtle surface trough. A few of these storms became strong enough to produce large hail.
