The National Estuarine Research Reserve System (NERRS) site on the south end of Sapelo Island measured a 34 knot wind gust.

Clusters of thunderstorms developed in the early morning hours near a stationary boundary associated with an area of low pressure situated near the lower Mississippi Valley. These thunderstorms moved along the coast through the morning producing strong wind gusts.
