The Coastal Ocean Research and Monitoring Program (CORMP) buoy located near Fripp Island measured a 37 knot wind gust.

Clusters of thunderstorms developed in the early morning hours near a stationary boundary associated with an area of low pressure situated near the lower Mississippi Valley. These thunderstorms moved along the coast through the morning producing strong wind gusts.
