Event narrative
Several reports of large hail fell near US-35 between Eau Claire and Altoona. The largest report was up to 4 inches in diameter. There was also a report of damage to siding due to the large hail.
Wider weather episode
A strong line of storms traveled northeast through western Wisconsin during the late afternoon of May 15th. There was one tornado in St Croix County and several locations of damaging wind including areas of significant wind damage in Dunn, Chippewa, Barron, and Rusk Counties. Very large hail up to 4 inches in diameter fell in Eau Claire County.
