Event narrative

Public report of haboob (wall of dust) from Law Enforcement. Visibility reported down to less than 1/4 of a mile in the southwestern parts of the county.

Wider weather episode

In the late afternoon of the 2nd, a cluster of storms formed in far western Kansas and proceeded to the north-northeast into southwestern Nebraska. Across southwestern Nebraska, these storm produced winds up to 64 MPH. The strongest winds were associated with an outflow coming from the cluster that also produced a haboob (wall of dust) that reduced visibility down to zero. This was a unique storm system because the overall storm system and wall of dust generally moved from south to north.
