This localized Dense Fog Event was reported to NWS Grand Junction by a former employee of this office. Also included were photographs indicating that yes, visibility was less than 1/4 mile in this area.

Wider weather episode

With enough moisture present in the wake of a departing low pressure system, and clear skies allowing for overnight lows to cool close to the dew point, areas of dense fog developed across the Grand Valley. In spots, particularly in the Redlands area of southern Grand Junction, dense fog developed that had visibility of less than 150 yards.
