Quarter to half dollar size hail was observed. Additionally, a tree was blown down in a yard.
Wider weather episode
A weak disturbance out of South Carolina brought a batch of showers and storms into the Sandhills and Coastal Plain of central North Carolina during the afternoon. This led to a few storms producing wind damage in Cumberland county. Additionally, a stalled front over the Piedmont produced isolated storms in the late evening hours, which produced some large hail and wind damage in Stanly County.
