Wider weather episode
Weak upper ridging along with a developing low off the Southeast coast allowed deep moisture to reach the eastern Midlands by the late afternoon on the 4th with PWAT's that reached 1.6-1.7 inches. This ample moisture and weak forcing/shear allowed a strong pulse environment to develop with MLCAPE approaching 1500-1800 J/kg by the afternoon. This led to the development of an isolated severe storm in Sumter County with reports of downed trees.
