Wind gust was recorded on a personal Weather Station in the western Albemarle Sound as thunderstorms moved through the area. Report came in via WeatherFlow.
Wider weather episode
Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms developed along and out ahead of a surface trough located in the Coastal Plain during the afternoon and evening of July Eighteenth. Once storms developed, they tracked southeastwards through the early evening before gradually dissipating after sunset. With ample instability in place, a few isolated storms became strong in nature bringing strong wind gusts to portions of the Albemarle and Pamlico Sounds.
