Wind gust was recorded on the Roanoke Sound Channel L36 - XRNK WeatherFlow Station as thunderstorms were moving through the area.

Wider weather episode

A surface trough was centered over the Coastal Plain during the afternoon and evening of July nineteenth. Showers and thunderstorms developed along and to the east of this surface trough with a few of these storms becoming strong in nature as they tracked south and east across Eastern North Carolina. The strongest storms impacted the waters along and north of Hatteras Island.
