Event narrative

Wind gust was measured on a personal Weather Station, the Salvo Dory, located in the Pamlico Sound as thunderstorms moved through the area. Report came in via WeatherFlow.

Wider weather episode

A surface trough was centered over the Coastal Plain during the afternoon and evening of July nineteenth. Showers and thunderstorms developed along and to the east of this surface trough with a few of these storms becoming strong in nature as they tracked south and east across Eastern North Carolina. The strongest storms impacted the waters along and north of Hatteras Island.
