Heat — Red River, Louisiana

2025-07-20 to 2025-07-25 · Red River, Louisiana

Wider weather episode

Following the passage of a westward moving tropical wave on July 19th across North Louisiana and East Texas, upper ridging expanded back west into much of the Four State Region from the Southeast Gulf Coast on the 20th, and persisted through the 25th. Strong subsidence beneath the ridge resulted in additional compressional warming, which enabled afternoon temperatures to climb into the mid and upper 90s across Southwest Arkansas, extreme Northeast Texas and North Louisiana. Coupled with ample low level moisture that persisted across the area, heat indices ranged from 105-110 degrees each day.
