Heat — Cherokee, Texas

2025-07-24 to 2025-07-25 · Cherokee, Texas

Wider weather episode

Following multiple days of persistent upper ridging over much of the Four State Region from July 20th-24th, strong subsidence beneath the ridge resulted in additional compressional warming, which enabled afternoon temperatures to climb into the mid 90s across the western sections of East Texas. Coupled with ample low level moisture that spread back west into the area from Southwest Arkansas and North Louisiana ahead of another westerly moving tropical wave across the Northern Gulf, heat indices ranged from 105-110 degrees on the 24th and 25th.
