Hocking Hills State Park reported that a tree fell onto a hiker in Conkles Hollow State Nature Preserve. The cause was estimated to be hillside instability due to several days of moderate to heavy rainfall.
Wider weather episode
A cold front sagged down into the Ohio Valley region and eventually stalled out. This boundary was the focus for showers and thunderstorms to develop in a saturated environment, producing heavy rainfall, runoff, and flooding.
