Trees were reported down across West Boulevard, between Turnpike Road and US 401 and also in the area of Park Circle and Peden Street.

Record heat, and high humidity, combined with a surface trough and a mid and upper level low near the South Atlantic coast and triggered numerous thunderstorms with tree-damaging wind gusts over central North Carolina in the afternoon and evening hours.
