Strong high pressure was centered over the central and eastern portions of the United States, resulting in very hot temperatures. Across Middle Tennessee, temperatures and heat indices started to peak on July 29, 2025, with maximum heat index values of 105 to 115 degrees common west of the Cumberland Plateau.
