Thunderstorm winds blew down one tree near the intersection of Winridge Drive and Winesap Road.
Wider weather episode
A cold front approaching the Appalachian Mountains combined with a hot and humid air mass to produce scattered severe thunderstorms across southwest Virginia. Damaging wind gusts from these storms blew down several trees and power lines, and lightning from one of these storms struck a house and set it on fire in Buckingham County.
