An extended period of gusty winds reached speeds as high as 72 mph 6 miles north of Cleghorn.

The wider storm

A strong wake low developed beneath the stratiform area of a large convective complex across northwest Iowa, far southeast South Dakota, and southwest Minnesota. Winds commonly reached 60 to 72 mph and brought down numerous large limbs, powerlines, and damaged several buildings.
