What EF0 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF0 is light damage: shingles and siding peeled, gutters torn, branches broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 65–85 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

The tornado continued east into Butts County crossing Deer

Point Cir and Dean Patrick Roads snapping off a few trees. The

tornado continued east snapping and uprooting a few trees along

County Line Road, England Chapel Road, and Shiloh roads.

Ironically, the damage within portions of this track coincided

with damage still present from the January 2023 tornado path. The

tornado continued east crossing Walter Moore Road snapping a few

trees before lifting east of the road before reaching the

northern portion of the City of Jackson in Butts County.

The wider storm

A loosely organized line of thunderstorms and supercells moved into northwest Georgia during the late evening hours of the 20th. Strong outflow interactions required numerous tornado warnings with multiple reports of winds over 60mph. Storms weakened slightly as they moved through the metro Atlanta, however a couple strong cells redeveloped in the early morning hours of the 21st southeast of the metro. These cells produced large hail, damaging winds, and even a brief tornado.

Began near Jenkinsburg (33.3140, -84.0570).
