A WeatherSTEM site at Harney Pond Park near Lakeport recorded a maximum wind gust of 49 knots/56 mph at 8:40 PM EDT with a severe thunderstorm. A wind gust of 42 knots/48 mph was recorded at 8:20 PM EDT.

Ample moisture, a decaying surface boundary, and a disturbance at the mid to upper levels of the atmosphere supported the development of strong to severe thunderstorms over southern Florida in the afternoon and evening hours of May 23, 2025.
