Event narrative

Extensive tree damage was reported along Distillery Rd outside of Belvidere. One tree trunk was snapped a few feet off the ground and multiple large tree limbs were downed, some of them onto power lines.

Wider weather episode

Two rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms moved across far northern and northeastern Illinois on the 3rd, the first during the early afternoon and the second during the evening. The storms produced marginally-damaging wind gusts in addition to widespread heavy rain and one brief EF0 tornado in Boone County.
