A trained spotter and broadcast media each reported and provided pictures of a funnel cloud in the vicinity of US-17 southwest of the Chesapeake airport.

An isolated storm formed along a stationary front across southeast Virginia during the afternoon of June 9. This storm was rotating and produced a funnel cloud.
