A surface low formed along a stationary front across central Virginia during the evening of June 8. This low moved east overnight into the early morning hours of June 9. Scattered storms formed in response to the surface low and produced locally heavy rainfall and flooding across portions of southeast Virginia during the early morning hours of June 9.
