A farmer measured over 5 inches of rainfall along Blue Jay Road in Hoboken. This verifies radar estimates of 4-6 inches in the area. Most of this rainfall occurred in a 90 minute period. There was a flash flood warning in effect.

Wider weather episode

Southwest flow over a moist and diurnally unstable airmass triggered isolated strong to severe storms along sea breeze and boundary mergers toward the I-95 corridor in the mid-afternoon. Storm mergers produced very heavy rainfall rates where localized flash flooding occurred.
