Public social media pictures showing an uprooted mature pine tree in addition to a damaged gazebo. Time and exact location estimated by radar. The nearest mesonet observation recorded a gust to 43 mph in Clinton. The wind gusts are the result of outflow winds associated with a nearby cluster of showers and thunderstorms moving through the area.
Wider weather episode
A partially cutoff low ejected through the region through early July, followed by a weaker trailing shortwave trough. This unsettled pattern resulted in sporadic instances of strong to severe wind gusts in addition to hail.
