Event narrative

The second tornado caused tree damage and minor roof damage to a home on 500N. Drone footage showed clear convergence in a grass field and a touchdown in a field of corn north of 500N. The tornado then downed a few additional trees before dissipating in a field to the northeast. The tornado had a peak wind of 75 mph.

Wider weather episode

A slowly-approaching cold front focused buoyant low levels, low cloud bases, and sufficient low level shear into the western Midwest on the 18th. A long and bowed squall line strengthened over Illinois during the early afternoon, tracking into Indiana where embedded severe cells extended, by mid-afternoon, from almost South Bend to Evansville. The line steadily crossed central Indiana, exiting the region by early evening. Associated scattered wind damage occurred in 32 of the region's 39 counties, with winds measured to 65 mph or greater in 6 counties, and gusts of 71 mph or greater observed in Owen County and at both the Indianapolis and Muncie ASOS. Large hail was limited to Madison County where it was reported as large as 1.50 inches. Early in the episode, two, brief EF0 tornaodes were spawned in Tippecanoe County.
