What the National Weather Service wrote

The I80/US189 - First Divide mesonet station recorded a period of wind gusts to 59 mph as a result of outflow winds associated with a nearby cluster of showers and thunderstorms moving through the area.

The wider storm

A shortwave moving through the area resulted in the development of late afternoon to evening convection. This convection was fairly high based in nature, resulting in strong outflow winds in turn.
