Wind gust was recorded on a personal weather station in the Pamlico Sound as thunderstorms were moving through the area. Report came in via WeatherFlow.

Wider weather episode

Scattered shower and thunderstorm activity was ongoing across portions of southern Virginia and eastern North Carolina out ahead of an approaching cold front. This front was located in southern Virginia on the night of July thirty-first. As the cold front pushed south into eastern North Carolina during the early morning hours of August first additional shower and thunderstorm activity developed across the northern coastal waters and Pamlico Sound and pushed south through the morning hours with a few of these storms becoming strong in nature. The strongest storms brought strong and damaging wind gusts to portions of Pamlico Sound during the early morning hours of August first.
