Severe (D2) drought conditions across far eastern and north central portions of Thomas County, improved to moderate (D1) drought conditions by the end of June. Over far southeastern portions of the county, severe (D2) drought conditions persisted through the end of June.

Wider weather episode

Abundant rainfall fell in June across western and north central Nebraska. This led to improvement in drought conditions across almost all of western and north central Nebraska. By the end of the month, three pockets of severe (D2) drought remained. The first over the eastern Sandhills, the second over western Garden County and the third over southeastern Hayes into most of Frontier County.
