Wider weather episode

A weak front off the coast combined with a surface trough across the Coastal Plain to promote scattered showers and thunderstorm development across eastern North Carolina during the afternoon and evening. A few storms became severe as storms tracked south and east through the late afternoon and evening, producing damaging winds.
