Extreme Drought (D3) continued then decreased to Severe Drought (D2) in the Santa Catalina and Rincon Mountains in the beginning of June. For the month of June, Pima county ranked the 20th wettest for the period of record. Soil moisture readings continued to range in the 1st through 5th percentile for the month of June.
Wider weather episode
The extreme (D3) drought category continued in the western, southern, and eastern sections of Southeastern Arizona. The total area from much of Pima County into Graham and Greenlee counties and portions of Santa Cruz and Cochise counties. The overall precipitation for Arizona ranking was 14th for the month of June. Soil moisture readings was between below the 1st percentile to 10th percentile ranking for the area.
