A crossing cold front with a weak shortwave passage spawned off clusters of thunderstorms in an environment characterized by DCAPE values >1000 J/kg with 1500-2000 J/kg of MLCAPE and weak deep layer shear. Some storms turned severe and produced instances of damaging wind. In addition, an axis of high PWAT values near 2.0 resulted in flash flooding with slow moving storms.
