A local 911 call center operator reported a tree down near a residential yard on Main Street in Terryville.
Wider weather episode
Elevated levels of heat and humidity preceded a potent upper level shortwave and corresponding jet streak and strong cold front that led to the development of scattered showers and thunderstorms across northwest Connecticut. A few of these thunderstorms reached severe magnitude, producing damaging wind gusts across portions of Litchfield County. Most of the damage reports came from within Terryville and described downed trees that lead to blockages and subsequent closures of several roadways.
