The Belen Regional Airport measured a severe wind gust of 61 mph from a non-thunderstorm convective dry downburst from virga showers in the area.

Wider weather episode

Scattered virga showers over western and central NM developed along the Continental Divide during the afternoon of August 8th. These dry showers producing little to no rainfall spread into the Rio Grande Valley, producing dry downburst winds. One severe downburst wind impacted the Belen Regional Airport with a 61 mph wind gust. No damage was reported.
