Event narrative

Severe (D2) drought conditions over far southwestern portions of the county, improved to moderate (D1) drought by the end of June. Over the remainder of the county, moderate (D1) drought conditions improved to abnormally dry (D0) drought conditions by the end of the month.

Wider weather episode

Abundant rainfall fell in June across western and north central Nebraska. This led to improvement in drought conditions across almost all of western and north central Nebraska. By the end of the month, three pockets of severe (D2) drought remained. The first over the eastern Sandhills, the second over western Garden County and the third over southeastern Hayes into most of Frontier County.
